Dallas police are using a half-taxi cab and half-cop car to promote their new anti-drunken driving campaign known as “Drink. Drive. Go to Jail.”
The cop-cab car is used to not only spark curiosity in people, but its main goal is to remind people that if you drink, you either ride home in a taxi or the back of a cop car. The campaign is also equipped with billboards in the area, mainly the entertainment districts, that state “choose your ride.”
The campaign began in last August and will run through September 6, Labor Day, in order to keep an extra eye out for impaired drivers on the road during the holiday weekend.

Texas lawmakers are attempting to make laws against DWI offenders stricter and although the penalties have increased over the years, Texas still leads that nation in alcohol-related deaths.
The leading counties in Texas include Dallas County with the third-most DWI-related accidents. The Criminal Justice Committee has been meeting weekly in order to discuss how to prevent these accidents from occurring.
They are considering a few different ways such as passing stricter laws so the drunk drivers stay off the road or another path that they are looking toward is to lower the fines so that convicted drunk drivers do not choose jail over probation.
Some lawmakers are pushing to have repeat offenders lose their license permanently and the idea has gained some support.
