Ohio Adopts Specialized DWI Offender Plates

The state of Ohio has recently adopted a specialized license plate designed to identify – and embarrass – convicted drunk driving offenders. Several other states have claimed that experiments with these special plates have had a noticeable effect in curbing the amount of DUI or DWI incidents on the road, but not everyone is on board. For those opposed to the new license plate idea, devices such as ignition interlocks and DUI/DWI roadblocks are far more effective in discouraging people from driving drunk.

Being convicted for DWI can put a permanent stain on your record – not to mention tarnish your public reputation. Don’t let this happen to you. Call the law offices of Dallas DWI lawyer Mark Lassiter at 214.651.1121 right away.

Man Arrested in Fatal DWI Accident

A fatal accident which claimed the life of a Dallas woman and seriously injured her husband has been blamed, at least partially,  on the effects of alcohol. Patricio Barrio, 63, was arrested on charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault early Monday morning after his Toyota 4Runner collided with the victims’ pickup truck, causing the truck to flip over and pin the couple inside. Vernie Clark was taken to a hospital, where she died of her injuries. Her husband, whose name was not released, underwent emergency surgery as well.

The accident comes as Super Bowl weekend draws to a close. Dallas police say they had expected DWI-related arrests to increase over the weekend.
