According to the Amarillo Police Department, 30 people have been arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated in May alone. Unfortunately, they expect the rate of arrests to increase as summer moves into full swing.

The Amarillo Police Department has seen that DWI arrests increase with the temperature. This is because as it gets hot, people want a cold drink. They then go overboard and get arrested. Unfortunately, many people do not realize that they can get arrested for this and fewer recognize the chance of injury or death to themselves or others.

The DA of Randall County does not feel that people shouldn’t drink. He wants people not to drink and then drive. Hence, the crime being driving while intoxicated rather than drinking.
