The totals have just come back from the Dallas police department and there were a total of 43 people who were suspected and arrested for DWI during the No Refusal Program over the Fourth of July Weekend.
The Dallas police department began the program to try and crack down on the number of people drinking and driving during the holiday festivities. 19 of the suspects that were arrested refused to take any form of a breathalyzer test for the Dallas DWI police. Therefore, warrants were issued to have the suspects’ blood drawn to test their BAC level.
Police have said that one of the individuals that were arrested is currently being charged with intoxication manslaughter because he was speeding on the LBJ Freeway and hit a car. When he drunk driver hit the other car, the car then flipped over and hit an 18 wheeler which killed the driver.
Dallas Police have said that their program was quite successful and are hoping to be able to use this program more often to help crack down on Dallas DWIs.
