A North Carolina state highway patrol officer resigned after being charged with driving while intoxicated. The officer drove across a center line, drove across the opposite lanes of traffic, ran off the road, and hit a mailbox. The accident prompted his DWI charge.
After hitting the mailbox, the trooper’s car flipped over. There were no other vehicles involved in the accident or incident.
The officer was a 10 year veteran of the police force. He was taken to a hospital following the accident where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries. He was charged with a DWI and failure to stay in his lane of traffic.
