The Missouri State Water Patrol operated a sobriety checkpoint at Lake of the Ozarks between 9:00 and 11:30 pm on July 28. Out of the 68 boaters stopped, 2 were charged with boating while intoxicated. There was one other boating-related citation issued, but details have not been released. The patrol has confirmed that it plans to operate more checkpoints through the month of August to test boater for intoxication. Incidents of intoxicated boating tend to increase during the summer months, encouraging law enforcement officers to increase their efforts.
If you have been charged with boating while intoxicated or a related offense, contact Dallas BWI defense attorney Mark Lassier at 214-457-1668.
